Get Involved!
The extraordinary world of stingers is always evolving, and you don't have to be a scientist to explore or help preserve it. Visit your city's aquarium or museum, explore your local library, search the Internet, or even spend a day at the beach!

Information is a powerful tool for conservation.
The more you know about stingers and their natural world, the more you can contribute to protecting them and conserving them. Our actions-even small ones-affect the marine environment. There are simple things we can do to protect jellies, anemones, corals and oceans.

Watch what you pour down the drain.
Many household chemicals can harm stingers and other ocean dwellers. Remember that storm drains lead to the sea, so don't pour toxic substances like motor oil down drains. Dispose of all waste properly.

Reduce your energy use.
Recent research indicates that corals are at risk due to rising water temperatures. Minimize your contributions to global warming. Reduce your use of electricity at home and work, and use public transportation instead of your car whenever you can.

Support conservation organizations.
The Wildlife Conservation Society and the New York Aquarium support scientific research on stingers and their marine ecosystems. By supporting WCS and the Aquarium, you become a part of our efforts to better understand and protect our natural world.
